William “Bill” Allen, age 51, passed away surrounded by his family, July 16, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 23, 1973 in La Junta, Colorado to Zelda (Lair) and Wayne Allen. He graduated from Cheraw High School in 1991.
Bill is survived by his mom Zelda; son, Logan; Logan’s older brother, Caleb Wagner who was always like a son to Bill as well; sisters, Teresa Turner and Sheila Moore; nieces, Amber Moore, Samantha (John) Yount, and Kelsey Thomas; and nephew, Matthew Moore. His family was completed by his great nieces and nephews, Dylon Dahn, Braydon Dahn, Serenity Thomas, Anixia Thomas, Aksana Thomas and Kayden Wynn.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Deborah Martinez; father, Wayne Allen; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Bill was a devoted father and traveled all over Colorado to attend his son Logan’s sporting events and to support the Las Animas Trojan athletic programs. His first love was football but he willingly supported all of Logan’s athletic endeavors.
Bill will be remembered as that guy who was always willing to help someone out or just be there when a listening ear was needed. He spent many years working as a CNA touching the lives of many. It was not uncommon to see Bill helping out someone less fortunate or just someone in need. Bill loved hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He would sit for hours waiting for that one big fish. Bill will be deeply missed but his impact on many will always be remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Bill’s honor at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the La Junta city park in the pavilion next to the playground. Following the memorial service there will be a barbeque with hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages provided. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and a side dish or dessert and join Bill's friends and family for a time of food and fellowship.
