Rebecca Sheryl (Haslett) Jantz, lovingly known as Becky, was born on January 29, 1949, in Dodge City, Kansas. She passed away July 30, 2025, at Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse, Kansas, at the age of 76.
On August 15, 1970, Becky married Cliff Hobson. To this union, two sons were born: Alex Jerrod Hobson and Nathan Thomas Hobson. On September 8, 1989 she married her childhood sweetheart, Larry Jantz in Las Vegas. They have shared a joyful and devoted marriage for 36 years.
Becky was preceded in death by her sons, Alex and Nate Hobson; parents, Floyd and Magdalene “Mac” Haslett; and brothers, Timothy, John, James, and Norman.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Larry Jantz of Syracuse, Kansas; sister, Phyllis Horning and husband, Kevin of Syracuse; brother, Floyd Haslett of Peyton, Colorado; and stepdaughters, Angela Talbot and husband, Neal of Syracuse and Sonya Jantz of Pueblo, Colorado. Becky also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Teegan and Bryce Hobson of Rose Hill, Kansas and Stryker Hobson of Tribune, Kansas; as well as step-grandchildren, Malakai Klotz, Makenna Klotz, Tiana Bontriger, Kamden Klotz of Tribune, Kansas, Cheyenne Bushkowski, Garrhett Masters of Pueblo, Colorado and Kelsey Acevedo of Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was also blessed with three great-granddaughters: Adarah, Emilia, and Raymah Acevedo of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Becky attended Wichita Business School and worked in a variety of clerical positions throughout her life. She was known for her diligence, kindness, attention to detail, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met—she truly never knew a stranger. One of her proudest accomplishments was co-owning and operating The Dawg’s Den restaurant, in Syracuse, with her son Alex, where together they created a welcoming space and many treasured memories.
Becky will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence was a blessing and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Syracuse, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.
