Rae Lynn Starr

Rae Lynn Starr, known to most as Lynn, passed away on July 22, 2024 at her home in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 55.  She was born July 10, 1969 in Englewood, Colorado to John Michael and Charlotte (Benson) Starr.  Lynn grew up in Denver.  After graduation she began her career as a secretary.  In 2009, Lynn moved to Las Animas and worked as a dietary aide up until becoming disabled in 2016.  Lynn loved her family, many friends, reading, cooking, fishing, animals and road trips with her mom.

She is survived by her mother, Char Starr of Las Animas, Colorado; uncles, Chris Benson of Hallettsville, Texas and Carl Benson of Bryan, Texas; aunts, Zara Reis of Westcliffe, Colorado, Alice Berry of Canon City, Colorado, Nan Sanders of Carmel, Indiana, Jane Reed of Kremmling, Colorado; best friend, Jay Latham of Denver, Colorado; 15 first cousins, numerous 2nd and 3rd cousins and many friends. 

Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Mike Starr; sister, Nicole Starr; uncle, Bill Ed Benson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Service for Rae Lynn will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Seed and Supply Church in Las Animas, Colorado.  Per her request, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered in Taylor Park Reservoir North of Gunnison. A private family gathering to share stories and memories will be held in Canon City.
