Leroy S. Sanchez

Leroy Steven Sanchez passed away on January 19, 2023 at the Bent County Health Care Center in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 77.  He was born on September 5, 1945 in Amalia, New Mexico to Levi and Mary (Salazar) Sanchez. 

Leroy later moved to Las Animas, Colorado where he met his first wife, Connie Montoya.  They had two children, Debra Sanchez and Steven Sanchez.  After they divorced, Leroy moved to Arizona where he fathered another child, Jarome Sanchez.  Leroy was a self-employed mechanic.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernie Sanchez, Levi Sanchez Jr., and Louis Sanchez; sister, Cordy Redwine; and son, Jarome Sanchez.

He is survived by two children, Debra “Debbie” Sanchez and Steven Sanchez; two brothers, Jose E. (Mary) Sanchez of Bountiful, Colorado and Joe Florentino (Mary) Sanchez of La Jara, Colorado; three sisters, Rose Martinez of Las Animas, Colorado, Solema Gallegos of La Junta, Colorado, and Christine Sanchez of Denver, Colorado; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Per Leroy’s request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
