Ann Sicklebower Obituary

Darlene Ann Cherry was born July 3rd, 1935, the second child and also the second daughter of Frank and Maxine Cherry, residents of Carlton, Colorado.  Ann had an older sister Donna, over the proceeding years would be joined by several more brothers and a sister: Charles (Chuck), Darrell, William (Bill), Margo, Richard II (Rich) and Dan.  Ann passed away on April 4, 2020 at Holly, Colorado.

On July 19th, 1951, Ann married Dick Sicklebower, of Hartman, Colorado.  This marriage would last until Dick’s death. Their home near Hartman was the gathering place for family and friends and many, many happy memories took place there.

Ann and Dick’s son, Randy was born October 2, 1952, followed by a daughter, Joanne (Rob Cline), born on October 1, 1953, and a son Ron, born January 1966.
Ann was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Franklin (Frank) and Maxine Cherry (Fidler); her husband, Dick; son, Randy; siblings Darrell Cherry and Donna Gruenewald. Charles died a few short months after Ann’s passing.

Ann is survived by: her children, Joann Cline (Rob) of Holly, CO and Ronald Sicklebower of Lamar, CO; her siblings, Margo Kirkpatrick (Ron) of Loveland, CO, Bill Cherry of Loveland, CO, Richard Cherry II (Sharon) of Austin, TX and Dan Cherry of Westcliffe, CO; her grandchildren, Eric Cline (Teresa), Trenton Cline (Kylee), Kerissa Gilmore, Rhaeli Ramos (Jose), Jerica Sicklebower, Trey Sicklebower and Taelyn Sicklebower. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

She had a way of making each and every one of her friends and family feel special. Ann shared a close relationship with all of her siblings and they all loved (and love) hunting arrowheads and other artifacts. She once found a small clay pipe for smoking as well as a buffalo skull with her granddaughter, Jerica. That buffalo skull resides at Big Timbers Museum. You could count yourself as special if she took you to any of her secret searching sites! She also loved camping with her Cherry cousins and Aunt BJ at Monte Vista (as evidenced by this photo.)

Ann did not die of Covid, but during the time of Covid, thus services were limited to her children and Ron’s children at graveside. Those of us who loved Ann missed being there and miss her terribly.

A celebration of Ann Cherry Sicklebower’s life will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 2 P.M.  graveside at the Hartman, Colorado Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Granada Methodist church. The family welcomes all of Ann’s many friends to attend this reception and share those special memories of her.
